11:00 A.M. (SPAIN)

Artist: SR. REPLICANTE
Title: Victimas EP
Label: 11:00 A.M. (SPAIN)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: 11AM 004EP
"11am comes back with another freaky afterhours burner, this time from another Argentinian, Sr. Replicante. Previously released in Alphahouse, he has been DJing for more than 10 years and has gathered the respect and influenced the whole Argentinian scene. 'Victimas' is a weird bleepy track with freaked out vocals -- awesome for the start of any afterhours set in the whole world. 'Ticket' is a Chicago-influenced track with a great fucked up groove. 'Obsequio' is like a doctoral thesis in rhythm, masterfully arranged with a quirky percussion. We love this! On the plays of Magda, Jay Haze, Jorge Savoretti, Franco Cinelli."

12K

Artist: MACHINEFABRIEK + STEPHEN VITIELLO
Title: Box Music
Label: 12K
Format: CD
Price: $13.00
Catalog #: 12K 048CD
"Rutger and Stephen sort of accidentally met through e-mail. A simple note regarding an ordering question for a CD led to an enthusiastic e-mail conversation and climaxed in a musical collaboration. This all happened in a very short period, both musicians being very inspired by the concept of 'exchange,' as a means to cross space and time -- Rutger living in the Netherlands and Stephen in Virginia. Most of the time, when (electronic) musicians work together, it's a matter of swapping digital files. In this case they decided to do something different and sent each other a box full of (mostly non-musical, or musically non-functional) objects and recordings, with the 'assignment' to make music with those objects and all as source materials. As the titles tell, we're talking about an egg cutter, thumb piano, a broken Kraakle box, rice, chocolate sprinkles, old cassette tapes, a broken 7" record, etc . Both musicians made two of their own solo tracks with the box they received, and the last track was done together by Rutger adding sounds and processing to a piece started by Stephen. For Rutger/Machinefabriek, this is part of his most delicate work. For Stephen, it was a new and extremely enjoyable form of long-distance collaboration."

240 VOLTS (GERMANY)

Artist: TAYLOR, JAMES
Title: Leave Me Alone
Label: 240 VOLTS (GERMANY)
Format: 10"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: VOLT 241EP
"As the vampire rises in the evening dusk, this 2-sided 10" record is a form of rebirth, a second chance or ghost of another time. Originally released on the long unavailable vinyl-only LP of Carthage Milk by Swayzak's James Taylor. These two overlooked swingers are presented in full, glorious, unedited form. Remastered at Dubplates and Mastering (Berlin) they are polyrythmic and ultra-detailed, yet you can sing along! Warm and organic, they blurp and blart a path from the ear to the hips. 'Leave Me Alone' starts in dub house land, quickly taking off with some ever-shifting grooves and an oh-so-blue synth line. Like a hundred tubes of Smarties at once shaking and melting in your hot little hands as everything reduces to a super sweet over-saturated solution of sound. 'Recto/Verso' is the upstart little brother, both annoying and endearing. Its crooning cut-up voices lead us to a superdiluted acid line that comes down via some nasal vowel sounds. A tribute to the lost art of the photocopier. Thanks to Alexxx of Logistic for letting us bring these back to life, thanks also to RRR, DJ Purple and Roger23. And thank you, dear listener."

"Following up a large wave of appreciation and an instant sellout for their debut 12" from exciting new lands with another hype jammy, already heard bothering the airwaves twice on Ms Hobbes. 'Narcotik Dub' is a dubstep-techno roller full of effects and noises, influenced by all that's current in the ongoing fusions of four/four music and dubwise science. 'Springz & Wires' mixes large rhythms and effects drawn from a palette dripping with dubstep, techno and breakbeat influences. Helixir is a producer from Strasbourg, east of France. He started producing techno in the late '90s and enlarged his skills with dubstep music in 2004. Artist: LIKHAN
Title: Qumran/Daoine Sidhe
Label: 7EVEN (FRANCE)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: 7EVEN 003EP
"Likhan is one of the original pioneers of dubstep in France. After years behind the decks spinning jungle and UK garage on the French dancefloors, he started producing in 2002, when the sound was 'dark garage.' He's already getting support from the scene leaders in dubstep including Mary Anne Hobbs who played his tracks several times. His eclectic musical influences and his safe knowledge of bass music makes Likhan's productions easily recognizable. Tight production, subtle effects and a clever use of sampling create a unique, mystic musical universe. His debut 12" Terre/Uwill on 7even Recordings received a large wave of appreciation being selected as 'Single Of The Week' by Boomkat.com. An instant sell out! Two massive tracks combine dubstep, techno and dub sounds, rhythms and vibes with an impeccable production and unfussy arrangements. 'Qumran' and 'Daoine Sidhe' are already supported by major DJs, including Mary Anne Hobbs and Bunzero. Likhan is pushing boundaries and keeping the development and enrichment of style and function at the forefront of masterly sonic objectives."

A.i. (UK)

Artist: VA
Title: Sampler Zero Eight
Label: A.i. (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $9.00
Catalog #: AI 023CD
"Due in part to satisfy the requests for CD-based material, Ai's next full-length offering is a sampler showcasing the breadth of talent and styles signed to the label's roster. Deep, dubby techno is represented on 'Teranidian,' the LP's opener and the final track from Najem Sworb's critically-acclaimed debut EP from late 2007. Plant43's Drexciyan-tinged electro is up next in the shape of the title track from his Grey Sky Cracks EP before we move swiftly onto the The Third Man's warm techno journey along the 'A14.' Hot on the heels of his first full-length opus, the midpoint of the LP is handed over to Datassette; firstly with 'Damage Report,' his futuristic take on machine funk and then the medieval tones of 'Pluck,' a track akin to dropping a court lyre player into a modern day recording studio and allowing him to tinker merrily. Electronica is where the label first made its mark and the latter half of the sampler shows that while recent releases have had more of structured dancefloor feel, this genre is still very much part of the label's repertoire. Michael Manning delivers a pair of previously-unreleased tracks both of which have a strong string content although vary in their approach with 'Center of the Universe' being a full scale orchestral affair with complementary electronics, whereas 'Release' gently works the strings between broken beat and game-like patterns. Strings also play a part in Sinner DC's 'Summer 57,' a distorted electro workout sounding like a slowed-down version of Underworld's 'Rez' and another brand new track exclusive to this release. The LP is then finally brought to a close with the ambient electronica of Michael Manning's 'Lost Aberrant Dragonfly,' the oldest cut on the sampler coming from his earlier EP of the same name."

A.R.T.LESS (GERMANY)

Artist: JONA, TOB
Title: Troika EP
Label: A.R.T.LESS (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $13.00
Catalog #: ARTLESS 2195EP
"The Mojuba sub-label welcomes a new artist to the family. Tob Jona is one half of the unique Sounders Department project. The guys are well known to the true Detroit-techno lovers. Way back in the '90s, they delivered some of the finest tracks with that special Motown feel. This EP brings us three fresh and very deep tunes, each with its own exceptional sound character! Be sure that every one will find his treasure on here: the dancer, the dreamer and the visionary!"

ACID FUCKERS UNITE (GERMANY)

Artist: ZOTS, ANDREY
Title: I Am/Zoid
Label: ACID FUCKERS UNITE (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: AFULTD 016EP
"And on it goes with AFU Limited and a new signing from Russia: Andrey Zots! This record is extremely dangerous and will definitely do its damage! What Andrey Zots (releases on Enable, Capsula, Globox and is part of the project Bip Soup) unleashes here could be the next big track for this summer, the Islands and the clubs! The deep and relaxed voice of 'I Am' has a rendezvous with this fat beat and the knarzy and crunchy sounds do their damage as well! The freaky track 'Zoids' rounds it up and is a great compliment to the title track. This record is dangerous and rocks big time! Played by: Hell, Oliver Huntemann, Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin, Martin Landsky, Martin Eyerer, Ricky Stone, Markus Kavka, Ascii.Disko, Tom Wax, Dr. Motte, Sascha Krohn."

ADJUNCT (GERMANY)

Artist: PISATURO, CAROLA
Title: Delle Palme
Label: ADJUNCT (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: ADJUN TILL013
"Carola was born in Rome and at the tender age of eight transported to Naples, Italy with mom and dad. At eighteen she left home, traveled north and began hanging out in the world of dance music, which introduced her to electronic sounds. She was captivated. The sonority of these manipulated compositions opened the port to an enchanted voyage, delicately preparing for her debut. Her DJ carrier started in 1997, from that point on, Carola plunged in compulsively exploring and experiencing sounds inspiring her personal path. In 2002, she graduated in sound engineering and worked for studio productions in Rome and Milan. Then, it was back to Naples. In her apartment, she built a studio where her impulse twisted and shaped ingenious sounds into her own sleek, funky style. After achieving her first releases (Bush, Southsoul Records) in 2005 she set up Titbit Music, which has rapidly become one of the 'it' labels for funky, minimal techno. She has also established the label Claque Musique and the net sister Claque Net as a playground for both well-known artists and newcomers. Carola lives in Naples, where she continues her exploration and love of release through music. Adjunct has selected two out of a number of excellent tracks. Funky, sleek and beautifully produced pieces accompanied by yet another bizarre PSB remix."
